Beachbody pumps up their creation and distribution of high-definition fitness videos with IMT

Getting and staying fit can be a challenge for many people. Beachbody, an innovative provider of fitness, nutrition, and weight-loss programs, is one of IMT’s top clients in the health and fitness sector.

Beachbody’s successful formula for fitness has attracted more than 23 million customers. Educational and motivational videos are central to the business. This requires massive amounts of high-speed storage to handle Beachbody’s nearly continuous stream of high-definition footage transcoded across a wide range of digital formats. A challenge the customer was facing was handling the surge of video files as Beachbody has grown. Beachbody’s post-production engineer, Leslie Hathaway, teamed up with the IMT team to find the best resolution to their storage needs.

IMT’s Jason Kranitz, SVP, Sales and Rob Kobrin, CTO led the advanced consulting for Levels Beyond portion of the project and Jose Palencia, VP, Engineering as the solution architect for DELL EMC Isilon, Quantum StorNext, and Artista Networking.

Beachbody now has 2.5 petabytes of Isilon All-Flash storage in its Santa Monica, Calif. production data center to support Adobe Premiere video editing, Telestream Vantage transcoding, and Levels Beyond Reach Engine media asset management. They also have another 2.5 petabytes of Isilon storage at a disaster recovery site about 300 miles away. Since Beachbody adopted Isilon all-flash storage, the video editing and transcoding process has improved drastically, even while handling multiple work streams.

“There is no other storage solution out there that compares to Isilon. And nobody has the service that Dell EMC provides. Partnering with Dell EMC and my systems integrator, IMT, for anything I do technology-related is so valuable. Those relationships go far because someone is always ready to answer your questions and help you be successful,” Leslie Hathaway, Post-Production Engineer at Beachbody.
